Some information from the school website:
Templebreedy National School is a small co-education Church of Ireland Parish school comprising of 3 mainstream classrooms, serving the Templebreedy Group of Parishes and under the patronage of the Church of Ireland Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross. It is situated in Crosshaven village on a site given by the Hayes family of Crosshaven House, alongside Holy Trinity Church.

The current building was opened in 1881. Major refurbishment of the facilities was undertaken in 1999. In Templebreedy National School, we provide a broad Primary Education, recognising that education is a life long experience and recognising that education is based on the principal of enabling the child to reach his/her full potential and to take his/her place in society, and contribute to the good of society. Home links are considered to be enormously important. We welcome and encourage involvement of our parent body in education.

Some information from the school website: After the site of the old Crosshaven railway station became available because of the closure of the railway in 1932, it was purchased by Cork County Council and a new two roomed school building was erected on the site.
Crosshaven BNS opened its doors to local pupils on April 1st 1943. Pupils ranged in age from 4-14 years and there were 56 pupils on the roll. Mr James Murphy (Principal) taught 30 boys from 4th-7th classes and 26 younger pupils were taught by Miss Mary Holland. The school remained a two teacher school until 1952 when the Principals son Diarmuid O’Murchadha joined the staff.

Some information from the school website:
Coláiste Muire, Realt na Mara (Our Lady Star of The Sea) was opened in 1947. It provided a second level education for girls of the area and they were taught by seven Presentation sisters and one lay person. The school adopted the motto ‘Respice Stellam, Voca Mariam’ which translated means ‘Look to the star, call upon Mary’ reflecting the influence of its location in the small fishing port of Crosshaven. When the school opened there were approximately one hundred students attending. Enrolment in 2024 is in excess of 470 students.

In 1952 due to the demand for extra classrooms, a top floor was built onto the Coláiste Muire block which had been used since 1891 as a primary school. Some of these classrooms include Naomh Ide and Naomh Colmcille. Coláiste Muire was an all-girls school until 1969 when eighteen boys attended. Prior to this boys of the locality had to travel to Cork City to receive a second level education. The school had now become co-educational and this resulted in an increase of pupils. In 1970 this increase led to an extension of the school which facilitated many specialist rooms and introduced a range of new subjects such as woodwork, Technical Drawing and Home Economics.
